Thanks very much to all who attended the club AGM - it was really great to see such a good turnout and with such enthuasiasm. Maurice Power, the chairman, announced that he was standing down from the chair and the committee. An election took place for the various positions on the committee, with Patricia Donohue being elected to the position of Chair, Mike Dooley to Vice Chair, Ann Sweeney Treasurer, Tom Quinn Competitions Secretary, Kay Synott Secretary and Neil Cronin, Gay Farrell, Michael Gaugh and Ray McGuinness also being elected onto the committee.
Congratulations to Claire Dennehy who is this years Galway Camera Club's Photographer of the Year! She was consistent in her wonderful winning entries throughout the year and is a well deserved winner. Kay Synott won the Novice Photographer of the Year. The club is delighted to have such talent, with wonderful entries throughout the year from all members. Thanks to everyone for helping make the club vibrant and active through participating in the competitions both digital and print, attending outings, the club quiz and also attending in person to hear the many wonderful guest speakers we had during the 2022-2023 season.
Galway Camera Club would like to acknowledge the generosity of some Guest Speakers who donated their fee to charities. James Crombie donated to Down Syndrome, Darrach Glennon to Simon and John Kelly to RNLI. The Galway Camera Club also donated €141 to Cope Galway from a raffle held on the Quiz Night.
