We had a great turnout for our AGM and thanks to all who attended - we said goodbye and thanks to John Considine, the club secretary, who stepped down and welcomed Vincent O'Connor into the role.  The rest of the committee was re-elected and remains, for the moment as is.  Members were given a rundown on the club's finances and events during the past 2024-2025 season, which was definitely a busy one, starting with our collaboration with the City Council for their 2025-2030 Biodiversity City Plan, our exhibition with Cope and our own exhibition open to the public and kindly attended by our Mayor, Peter Keane. Members were advised to keep an eye on the member's wattsapp for upcoming outings during the Summer and a list of photography possibilities was also shown on the night and will be updated in the next day. These will be available on this website under the headings "Club" and then "Useful Links".

Congratulations to our winners this year who received well deserved awards for both their photography and contribution to Galway Camera Club. Roger Durham received "Beginner of the Year" trophy with John Kelly coming 2nd and Will Synott placed 3rd. Most Improved Beginner of the Year went to Vincent O'Connor wth The Chair's Special Award for his contribution to the club, going to Jim Keller. Ger Kavanagh received the advanced Photographer of the Year award for his consistency and dedication in capturing memorable moments and his generosity in sharing his knowledge was very much appreciated. Below are some photos from the night.

On behalf of the committee, I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your kind words of support and encouragement throughout the year. Your appreciation truly means a lot to us.

As we take a break from regular meetings over the Summer, we hope you'll join us for some of the outings and informal catch-ups planned in the months ahead. Enjoy the sunshine, embrace the season, and of course—keep that shutter clicking!

Wishing you all a wonderful Summer filled with inspiration and great photo opportunities.
